Baker Orders Flags To Be Lowered To Half-Staff For Quincy Sgt.
23-year-old Sgt. MacDouglas Deegan, from Quincy, is being honored after passing away suddenly two weeks ago.
QUINCY, MA — All American flags on state buildings in Massachusetts are to be flown at half-staff Tuesday from sunrise to sunset in honor of Sgt. MacDouglas "Mac" Deegan.
The order issued by Gov. Baker applies to all state military installations, town and city halls, and other state-owned buildings.
Army Sgt. MacDouglas Deegan passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 29, according to his obituary.

The 23-year-old leaves behind his wife Courtney, who was his high school sweetheart, and his son Sawyer. The Squantum native grew up playing hockey, and soccer, excelling in wrestling and rugby, in particular.
"From a young age, Mac had the ability to accomplish anything he set his mind to," the obituary reads.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Tuesday, July 13 at 6 p.m. in Glad Tidings at Bethany Congregational Church, 18 Spear St. in Quincy, followed by full military honors.
