Car With Child Inside Stolen From MA Hospital

The vehicle was abandoned in Lowell.

GARDNER, MA —A car with a child inside was parked outside of a hospital in Central Massachusetts when it was stolen, according to Massachusetts State Police.

On Monday afternoon, police recieved reports of the car stolen from Heywood Hospital in Gardner. The suspect stole the car, drove a short distance and ordered the child to exit the vehicle, according to state police.

Massachusetts State Police said that the child was not hurt.

Police tracked the vehicle to Route 2 and eventually I-495 North, but they did not pursue it for safety reasons. When the suspect saw State Police cars, he began acting erratically, according to MSP.

The car was later found abandoned in Lowell by police officers there.
