Citizens Bank Closing 4 Branches In Massachusetts

The Massachusetts locations are four of 15 Citizens banks closing across the United States, including ones in nearby New Hampshire and RI.

MASSACHUSETTS — Citizens Bank will close 15 branches across the United States, including four in Massachusetts, by the start of 2025.

A Citizens Bank spokesperson said the Rhode Island-based company is closing locations to "evolve and adjust branch strategy across our network."

"We’ve been on a journey at Citizens to evolve how our customers bank with us, and we continually review customer patterns," a company spokesperson said. "We look forward to continuing to serve customers through neighboring branches, as well as through our online and mobile banking platforms."

Of the four banks closing, three are inside grocery stores. The Citizens Bank locations closing in Massachusetts include:

  • Bellingham Stop & Shop, 70 Pulaski Blvd., Bellingham
  • Belmont Star Market, 535 Trapelo Road, Belmont
  • Burlington (Route 62), 248 Middlesex Turnpike, Burlington
  • Hyde Park Stop & Shop, 1025 Truman Parkway, Hyde Park.

According to a Citizens Bank spokesperson, the Hyde Park and Bellingham locations will transition into self-service kiosks.

Stores are also closing in other New England states, including the Rumford location in East Providence, Rhode Island, and another branch in Nashua, New Hampshire.
