Cops Release Image Of 3rd Suspect In Killing Of Congressional Intern From MA

The Granby Massachusetts resident was struck by a stray bullet, police said.

WASHINGTON —Police released images of the third and final man wanted in connection with fatal shooting of a congressional intern from Granby.

The man, 18-year-old Naqwan Antonio Lucas, is wanted on a charge of premeditated first-degree murder while armed, the Metropolitan Police Department said in a media release.

Lucas was charged with the killing of Eric Tarpinian-Jachym, a 21-year-old congressional intern from Granby, who was shot to death shortly before 10:30 p.m. June 25.

Officers responding to gunshots near the Walter E. Washington Convention Center found Tarpinian-Jachym, a woman and a 16-year-old male had all been shot, the release said.

Tarpinian-Jachym was unconscious but the woman and the teen were conscious and breathing, according to the release.

All three were hospitalized but Tarpinian-Jachym later died.

"The preliminary investigation indicates that multiple suspects exited a vehicle at the intersection of 7th and M Street, Northwest and began firing at a group," the Metropolitan Police Department said in a media release.

"Detectives believe the (Tarpinian-Jachym) was not the intended target of the shooting," the release said.

Two 17-year-olds were also charged with Tarpinian-Jachym's murder have already been apprehended.

Kelvin Thomas and Jailen Lucas, both of Washington, were arrested Sept. 5, the release said. Both were charged as adults.

A reward of up to $50,000 has been offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction in Tarpinian-Jachym's murder, according to the release.
