Former Red Sox Star David Ortiz, Wife Split Up After 25 Years
David and Tiffany Ortiz announced they were seeking a divorce in 2013 but later reconciled.

BOSTON — Tiffany Ortiz, the wife of former Red Sox star David Ortiz, said the couple is splitting up.
"We have made the decision to go into a new phase of our life journey together, not as a couple, but as friends and co-parents to our amazing children," Tiffany Ortiz said in an Instagram post Monday. Her message did not mention any other details about the couple's split.
It's the second time the couple has announced plans to split. In 2013, they said they were seeking a divorce but later reconciled.

Last month, the Baseball Writers’ Association of America named Ortiz one of 13 first-time candidates on the Baseball Hall of Fame ballot, joining 17 other candidates.
In 2019, David Ortiz spent more than a month in the hospital after being shot in the back in his hometown of Santo Domingo, the Dominican capital. He had three surgeries — one the night of the shooting in the Dominican and two in Massachusetts General Hospital — and had parts of organs removed.

Dominican authorities have said the shooting was a case of mistaken identity, with the gunman meaning to shoot a friend of Ortiz's who was wearing similar clothing.
