This MA City Is The Hottest Real Estate Market In The Country, Realtor Data Shows
In a new report from Realtor.com, one Massachusetts city draws over three times more interest than the national average.
MASSACHUSETTS — If we've said it once we've said it 100 times: The Massachusetts housing market is competitive, expensive and always hot.
Now, Realtor.com has found that one city in particular has been the most popular in the country for five consecutive months.
In the website's September 2025 Hottest Housing Markets report, Springfield, Mass., took the top spot for the fifth consecutive month on a list dominated by markets in the Northeast and the Midwest.

It's the eighth time in the history of the report that Springfield has been at the top.
Realtor.com described its ranking strategy in the piece, which details how they calculate the list:

"The Realtor.com Market Hotness rankings take into account two aspects of the housing market: 1) market demand, as measured by unique views per property on Realtor.com, and 2) the pace of the market as measured by the number of days a listing remains active on Realtor.com."
In September, Springfield attracted 3.1 times the viewers per property compared to the national average, and homes spent about a month less time on the market, according to the report.
Experts with the company believe the lower average listing price compared to the region, $370,000, likely has a lot to do with the share of viewership on the site.
