MA Not Among Most Fun States In U.S., New Study Says

If you want to have fun, apparently the Bay State isn't the place to do it, at least according to one new study. Personal finance site WalletHub ranked Massachusetts No. 24 in its list of the most and least fun states in America.

WalletHub used 26 indicators to determine which states were the most fun, ranking everything from most restaurants and movie theaters per capita to access to national parks and the arts.

The most fun state was deemed California due to its large number of restaurants, amusement parks, movie theaters, and fitness centers.

The dubious moniker of the least fun state went to West Virginia.

One area where Massachusetts distinguishes itself: marinas per capita, where it ranked tied for No. 1.

Overall, New England was among the weaker regions when it comes to fun: Connecticut ranked No. 43, New Hampshire No. 42, Vermont No. 45, Rhode Island No. 48, and Maine No. 39.
