MASSACHUSETTS — The state's database of current and former residents who may have unclaimed property — including uncashed checks, stock dividends and more — has grown by 50,000 names in recent months, and Massachusetts state Treasurer Deborah Goldberg is urging residents to see if they might be among them. The newly added names are part of a biannual update.

"Did you know there is $3.4 billion in unclaimed property in Massachusetts? One in 10 people in this state are owed money and one of them could be you," Goldberg said in a news release. "So check the list, go online, or call our office to search for your name and begin the process today."

The state processed 145,000 property claims in 2023 at a value of about $185 million. The state has returned near $780 million over the last five years.
