MA Wegmans Customers May Have Been Overcharged: Company

The New York-based grocer is asking customers to check statements. Refunds will be issued to anyone affected.

MASSACHUSETTS — Shoppers who used credit cards to buy goods online or in-store at Wegmans locations in Massachusetts should check bank statements due to a charging error that happened this month.

According to officials, credit card transactions made at the grocery chain on Aug. 16 may have been doubled, but EBT and debit card transactions were not. The issue may have happened at all Wegmans stores, and the company has alerted most customers.

Wegmans said the company is working with processors to reverse the charges.

Customers should see the duplicate charges reversed in the upcoming days depending on their bank or issuer, a company spokesperson said.
