Major Retailer Closing These MA Locations

Six more Claire's locations in Massachusetts are on the chopping block as the company proceeds through bankruptcy.

Claire's LLC previously designated its MarketStreet Lynnfield store for closure. The six additional stores identified in a filing this week are in:

• Northborough Crossing, Northborough
• Cambridgeside Galleria, Cambridge
• Emerald Square, North Attleboro
• Solomon Pond Mall, Berlin
• Northshore Mall, Peabody
• Downtown Crossing, Boston

Claire’s Holdings LLC made the move in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Delaware. It marked the second bankruptcy filing for Claire's since 2018.

In addition to Claire's, a jewelry and accessory store catering to teens and tweens, Claire's Holdings also operates Icing, which targets older teens and women.

Claire's Holdings operates more than 2,750 Claire's stores in North America and Europe and 190 Icing stores in North America, according to the company's website.

"We also sell Claire’s products in thousands of concessions locations in North America and Europe, and we have more than 300 franchised Claire’s stores, located primarily in the Middle East and South Africa," the site said.

Eleven other Massachusetts locations are to remain open, according to the filing. Those locations are in:

• Burlington Mall, Burlington
• South Shore Plaza, Braintree
• Auburn Mall, Auburn
• Holyoke Mall At Ingleside, Holyoke
• Westgate Mall, Brockton
• Square One Mall, Saugus
• Natick Collection, Natick
• Dartmouth Mall, North Dartmouth
• Cape Cod Mall, Hyannis
• Wrentham Village Premium Outlets, Wrentham
• Lee Premium Outlets, Lee
