Massachusetts Sandwich Shop Among Best In America, Food & Wine Says

DANVERS, MA — When people think of the words "Massachusetts" and "sandwich," they likely think of a fluffernutter, the unofficial state sandwich.

But a new list of "must-visit" sandwich shops from Food & Wine features a Danvers sandwich shop that specializes in another Bay State favorite, the traditional North Shore roast beef sandwich

The publication Wednesday release its list of "America's Best Sandwich Shops From Chicago to Seattle."

Thirteen sandwich slinging locations are on the list, but we're here to focus on the Massachusetts spot: The Modern Butcher in Danvers.

The Modern Butcher placed 11th. Here's what Food & Wine said about it:

"Okay, this is a butcher shop first, but insiders know it’s a sandwich shop, too. It’s only right that the sustainable, pasture-raised meats from local New England farms are front and center, packed high. Most notably, people flock to The Modern Butcher for the traditional North Shore roast beef sandwich, the three-way “NSB” with white American cheese, James River barbecue sauce, and slices of pink beef."
