Steamship Authority ferry service from Cape Cod to the islands has been altered on Monday. On the Hyannis-Nantucket route, all service will remain suspended throughout the day, officials said.
On the Woods Hole-Martha's Vineyard route, service on Monday was "on a trip-by trip basis based upon sailing conditions," officials said.
As part of the rough water conditions, the MBTA canceled all Lynn, Quincy and Winthrop ferry trips on Monday. After initially being put on a delay, all Hingham/Hull ferry trips were also suspended on Monday.
U.S. Coast Guard officials were needed for a water rescue on Cape Cod amid yesterday's ongoing nor'easter.
Around 3:30 p.m., the Falmouth Fire and Falmouth Police Department responded to a water rescue call near Juniper Point in Woods Hole after the Steamship Authority Ferry crew spotted a person in the water and attempted assistance by deploying life rings, officials said.
As search efforts continued, the area of focus shifted to waters off Nobska Point. At approximately 4:25 p.m., the helicopter crew located the victim and successfully deployed a rescue swimmer to retrieve them. The victim was then hoisted aboard the helicopter.
