October Heat Wave In MA: How High Temperatures Will Get

Relative to usual October temperatures, it'll feel like summer this week across Massachusetts, according to forecasts.

MASSACHUSETTS — Sweater weather? Not this week.

Massachusetts will see a wave of warm weather this week uncharacteristic for the last week in October.

Starting Wednesday, daytime high temperatures will swing into the 70s across the state, peaking on Saturday near 80 in some places, according to the National Weather Service. The warmth will only be brief, however, with much more seasonable temperatures coming around Halloween.

"We'll be on a bit of a temperature roller coaster this week as we warm up well into the 70s mid week into next weekend before a cool down arrives around Sunday," the National Weather Service said Monday.

Boston and other coastal areas will see the warmest temperatures, with a high hitting 77 on Saturday. The Worcester area will be slightly cooler, rising to about 74 by Saturday. Temperatures on Monday, Tuesday and Sunday will be the coolest days of the week, hovering around 60 in most parts of the state, according to forecasts.

It'll also be dry and sunny through the weekend — a much-needed reprieve from many weekends of dreary weather.

The week may not feel like fall, but at least you'll be able to stave off high heating bills for one more week.
