One Person Dead In New Bedford North End Shooting

New Bedford police are urging the public to avoid Ashley Boulevard while they secure the scene after a fatal shooting Monday.

NEW BEDFORD, MA — Lieutenant Scott Carola confirmed one person is dead after a shooting on Ashley Boulevard in New Bedford Monday afternoon. Police say they believe they have the shooter in custody.

New Bedford police were on the scene telling people to avoid the streets while they continued their investigation.

The department has released no further information.
