MASSACHUSETTS — It will be a soggy start to the Thanksgiving travel stretch for those looking to get an early start Tuesday night and Wednesday morning before sharply colder weather moves in with high winds on the holiday and into the weekend.

Temperatures will rise throughout the day on Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service, with highs into the 50s before rain arrives early Tuesday night. Rain will be heavy at times throughout the night into Wednesday morning with temperatures staying steady or inching up a few degrees.

Wednesday will be a damp day in the morning with drier air moving in during the afternoon. It will be unseasonably warm, however, with high temperatures reaching into the 60s.

Rain chances will linger into Wednesday night before the wind ramps up from the west and temperatures drop during the day on Thanksgiving. Those headed to local high school football games on Thursday are advised to bundle up, as the wind will make it feel colder than the mid-40s, where temperatures will hover during the morning and into the afternoon.

Winds will whip steadily at about 20 miles per hour with gusts as high as 40 mph on Black Friday.

Saturday will be cold and windy with highs near 40 degrees and wind chills in the 20s early before gusts calm into the afternoon.

Sunday will be cloudy and seasonable with a high temperature of 46 degrees.
