MA Under Hazardous Weather Advisory Due To Threat Of Flooding, Severe Storms

Here's what to know about another round of severe weather in Massachusetts on Friday.

MASSACHUSETTS — After a mercifully humidity-free and dry week, the threat of severe storms in Massachusetts returns Friday.

Both damaging winds, lightning and hail will be possible during isolated severe weather on Friday, but rain will be the biggest factor, according to the National Weather Service. Most of the state from Worcester to Boston to Provincetown could get up to 1-1/2 inches Friday, with pockets near 2 inches in some areas possible.

The National Weather Service office in Norton issued a hazardous weather outlook Thursday for the entire state.

"Showers and thunderstorms returns for Friday and Friday night associated with a cold front. Heavy rainfall possible which may lead to localized flooding. In addition, there is a threat of isolated severe weather across interior southern New England. At this time the threat of flooding and severe weather looks localized and not widespread," the statement said.

Friday's weather will likely come in two bursts, according to forecasts: a stretch of rainy weather Friday morning followed by more severe storms during the afternoon hours.
