Severe Storms Target MA This Week: See Latest Forecast

A return to hot, hazy and humid weather could mean the third heat wave of the season for many communities across the state.

MASSACHUSETTS — A tropical week is on the way across Massachusetts with the National Weather Service issuing a three-day Heat Advisory as it forecasts a hot and very humid stretch and the threat of damaging storms each day.

Monday will start to build the soupy feel with rising dew points near 70 and a high temperature of 85 degrees. The biggest severe storm threat will be in western Massachusetts with a lesser threat in Worcester County.

Tuesday could be the first day of the heat wave with the NWS forecasting a high of 88 degrees with thunderstorms possible.

"Heat index values 95 to 100 degrees during the afternoon hours," the NWS said. "The worst of the heat and humidity will be Wednesday and Thursday and it is possible that these heat headlines may need to be extended into Friday."

The advisory is in effect for all of southern New England except the east slopes of the Berkshires, as well as Cape Cod and the Islands.

Wednesday will be mostly sunny and hot with a high of 91 degrees.

Thursday will bring a bigger chance of storms and a high of 89 degrees.

Friday will be similar to Thursday with a chance for stronger storms at night as a cold front ushers in cooler and much drier air for Saturday.
