VaxMillions Winner Didn't Respond — Making One Winner Extra Lucky
One Massachusetts resident got their vaccine but missed their shot at big bucks.

MASSACHUSETTS — One Massachusetts resident missed their chance to win a VaxMillions prize by failing to respond before the 24-hour deadline of the sweepstakes.
Five VaxMillions Giveaway drawings were held on Mondays from July 26 through August 23, where five people 18 and older have a chance of winning $1 million, and five people ages 12-17 have a shot of winning a college scholarship.
According to official rules, winners have 24 hours to respond when the Department of Public Health reaches out, and if the winner does not respond, they will forfeit the prize and a new winner will be chosen.

Lottery officials did not say which winner was the extra lucky one who was chosen after the first person didn't respond.
Massachusetts created the lottery to efforts to encourage more people to get vaccinated against COVID-19, and state officials say about 2.5 million people registered for at least one drawing.

The winners of the first drawing were Darrell Washington, of Weymouth, and Daniela Maldonado, of Chelsea.
The second round of winners were Donna McNulty, of Billerica, and Dylan Barron, of Norwood.
The winners of the third round were Leo Costinos, of Attleboro, and the scholarship went to Lilla Eliet, of Reading.
The fourth round winners were Lilly Guttenplan, of Lowell, and the scholarship winner was Nadia Dutton, of Rockland.
The fifth and final round winners will be announced Thursday.
Since the VaxMillions Giveaway was announced, state officials said more than 440,000 people have become fully vaccinated.
