Weekend Sobriety Check Coming In Middlesex County

MIDDLESEX COUNTY, MA — The State Police Department announced that it will be implementing a somewhere on a public way in the county during the weekend beginning on Friday, June 6.
State Police Superintendent Colonel Geoffrey Noble said that the checkpoint’s purpose is to raise awareness for the need to remove drivers who operate under the influence of alcohol or drugs from the streets.
“It will be operated during varied hours, the selection of vehicles will not be arbitrary, safety will be assured, and any inconveniences to motorists will be minimized with advance notice to reduce fear and anxiety,” Noble said in a statement.

The checkpoint is funded by a grant from the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security.
