What Happens To Early Voting And Mail-In Ballots Before Election Day In Massachusetts?

BELMONT - Voting early or by mail has been popular in Massachusetts. So how are those ballots processed?

According to the secretary of state's office,1,297,480 people have already voted in Massachusetts as of 4 p.m. Tuesday, a full week before Election Day. That's more than a quarter of all registered voters in the state.

"We're very happy about it," said Secretary of State Bill Galvin. "I've been to some of the early locations, and people and I are excited... They're coming in with their children."
