Spring Household Hazardous Waste Collection day will be held tomorrow. This collection will be held at the DPW Garage, located at 14 Forest Road, from 9 am – 11:30 am.
Please note that this collection is for Acton residents only, and proof of residency is required.
The Board of Health would also like to inform Acton residents who wish to dispose of medication and sharps (syringes) that it no longer accepts these at Hazardous Waste Day. Medications can now be dropped off in their original container located in the front foyer, 24 hours a day at the Public Safety Building located at 371 Main Street. Sharps (syringes) can now be brought to the Left Foyer of the Town Hall located at 472 Main Street between the hours of 8 am-5 pm, Monday-Friday, excluding holidays and dropped into the red kiosk labeled sharps.

Latex Paint can be disposed of in the trash once completely dried. To dry small amounts, remove lid and let the paint dry in the can. For larger amounts, mix in kitty litter or pour one-inch layers of paint in a cardboard box lined with a plastic bag. Stir the paint occasionally to speed drying. Put completely dried paint in the trash.
Televisions and CRT’s (computer monitors) can be brought to Hazardous Waste Day and disposed of for $25 per unit (cash or check payable to the Town of Acton). In addition, the Transfer Station now accepts both televisions and CRT’s during normal operating hours (see website for hours). There will be a $25 charge per unit and is payable at the entrance to the Transfer Station (pay by cash or check payable to the Town of Acton). This fee will help cover the cost for disposal of these items.
