Info on Water Main Flushing, Chemistry at the Discovery Museums
We've got five things you need to see, do and know on Oct. 8 in Acton.

1. Water Main Flushing: The Acton Water District began its fall water main flushing program Monday, and will continue for the entire month of October, flushing flushing water mains east of Main Street/Route 27 and south of Route 2. Get the details here.
2. Today in Public Meetings: According to the town website, public meetings posted for Oct. 8 include the Finance Committee at 7:30 p.m. and a Joint Meeting of the Acton Public and Acton-Boxborough Regional School Committees' Negotiations Subcommittee at 8 a.m.
3. ICYMI: In case you missed it, over the weekend we shared news that an Acton parish could be grouped into a parish collaborative under the Archdiocese of Boston's reorganization plans. If you haven't yet, check it out.
4. Reaction Station: Adventures for Young Chemists: Drop by the Discovery Museums at 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon to try your hand at doing wet chemistry in a model glove box and learn why some chemists use glove boxes and hoods. Get the details here.
5. Sunny and Clear: Should be mostly sunny today, with a high of 67, according to the National Weather Service, which predicts a clear evening and overnight low of 41.
