And Now: The Freeze

Wind chill warning in effect.

If you were planning on letting that snow on your driveway melt, think again.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill warning for Andover, effective until Saturday morning at 9 a.m.

On Friday afternoon, temperatures were already down to the single digits. Friday night, temperatures are expected to drop down to 4 degrees, with a wind chill factor of -13 degrees.

Wind gusts could be as high as 25 miles per hour, making for a bitter arctic blast. Residents are advised to stay indoors, as temperatures this low can be deadly. If you lose your heat, contact the police department immediately at 978-475-0411.

WHDH's Jeremy Reiner writes on his blog: "The weekend sees moderation of this arctic blast after 3-4 hours Saturday morning. By Saturday afternoon our temps will reach the mid 20s under a mostly sunny sky."

And Sunday is expected to bring warmer temperatures in the 40s, which should jumpstart the melting process.
