Andover Election: All Incumbents Retain Seats On Tuesday

ANDOVER, MA — Andover's Annual Town Election belonged to the incumbents.

With all 11 precincts reporting Tuesday night, all four races— Select Board, School Committee, Moderator and Trustees of the Punchard Free School — have resulted in candidates retaining their seats.

Laura Gregory will return to the Select Board after defeating challenger Kevin Coffey. According to unofficial vote totals from the Town of Andover, Gregory received 1,099 votes, while Coffey received 1,010 votes.

"I'm looking forward to serving my community for another three years," Gregory said in a statement to Patch.

Incumbent Lauren Conoscenti, who was running uncontested for School Committee, received 1,568 votes of the 1,629 votes cast, according to unofficial vote totals.

"I'm excited to continue my work on the Andover School Committee for the next three years," Conoscenti said in a statement to Patch. "It's been an honor to serve my community thus far, and I am grateful for Andover's vote of confidence in my leadership."

For Moderator, incumbent Sheila Doherty received 1,382 votes, defeating challenger Keith Saxon (685 votes).

The two incumbents in the race for Trustees of the Punchard Free School also will be returning to their posts. In a race with two open seats, Donald Francis Schroeder received 1,112 votes and Chip Gregory got 1,099 votes. Challenger William Walsh finished third with 729 votes.

According to the Town of Andover, 2,133 people voted in the election, which is 6.42 percent of the town's 33,221 registered voters.

The winners of the election will be sworn in at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Hall Library.
