Andover Girl Wins Silver at World Youth Chess Championships
Carissa Yip, 12, became the youngest U.S. chess master earlier this year.

Carissa Yip, 12, won silver in the recent World Youth Class Championships in Halkidiki, Greece, according to David B. Sands, of the Washinton Times.
Carissa scored 9.5 out of 11 in the world youth chess championship on Nov. 6 in Greece, and tied for first against Ngoc Thuy Bach of Vietnam. She won the silver medal after tie-break.
Earlier this year, Carissa of Andover, Mass., beat two grand masters in the Legends of Chess Tournament held on Feb. 21 in Cambridge, Mass., to become the youngest U.S. chess master.
