Andover Gymnast Paige Anastasi Signs With University Of Minnesota

The Lawrence Academy senior competes for Burlington-based Brestyans American Gymnastics Club.

ANDOVER, MA — Andover resident Paige Anastasi has signed to compete in gymnastics at the University of Minnesota, the school announced on Monday.

Anastasi is a senior at Lawrence Academy and competes for Brestyans American Gymnastics Club, the Burlington-based club that has produced Olympic medal-winners Aly Raisman and Alicia Sacramone.

Earlier this year, Anastasi won the Massachusetts state title on vault. In 2021, she finished second in the all-around at state, fourth in the all-around at regionals and in the top 20 in her age group at nationals.

Anastasi joins a 2023 Golden Gophers signing class that now features nine gymnasts.

"Even though I am not from the area (Minneapolis), when I stepped on campus it felt like home away from home," said Anastasi, who plans to study pre-law.

Anastasi continued: "The team and the coaching staff are invested in each other and care for one another like family. The hard work ethic and diligence of the team is something I thrive off and I know that the University of Minnesota is where I am going to succeed."

Minnesota also announced the signing of Sophie Swartzmiller, of Madison, Wisconsin, on Monday.

Golden Gophers head coach Jenny Hansen said Anastasi and Swartzmiller complement the other seven athletes in the signing class.

"We are excited to welcome Paige and Sophie," Hansen said. "They are both incredible students with a passion to develop and reach their potential in our program."

Several other Athletes from Andover recently signed their National Letter of Intent to play Div. I and Div. II college sports.
