Andover Inn, At Phillips Academy, To Re-Open After 2-Year Hiatus

ANDOVER, MA — The Andover Inn, located on the campus of Phillips Academy, will re-open next month after being closed for two years due to the pandemic, a spokesperson for the academy, which owns the hotel, announced Friday.

Located at 4 Chapel Ave. across from Phillips Academy's Addison Gallery of American Art, the 30-room Andover Inn is scheduled to begin welcoming back guests beginning on Nov. 14.

The inn was built in 1930 and is part of the National Register of Historic Inns. The facility is managed by Waterford Hotel Group.

"We are eager to welcome the local community and travelers back to the Andover Inn," said Tracy Sweet, a Phillips Academy spokesperson. "For decades, the inn has been an integral part of the town and a regional landmark, with great proximity to Boston, the seacoast, arts and cultural activities, and so much more that New England has to offer."

The operators of the inn also have announced that plans are in place for the hotel's lobby and all guest rooms to be remodeled. The inn last was renovated in 2010.

According to a spokesperson for the facility, the upcoming renovations are expected to be completed in early 2023, and the hotel will remain open while the remodeling takes place.

When it reopens in November, the Andover Inn also will feature Samuel's restaurant, which will feature beverages and a limited menu.

The operators of the inn said that beginning on Sept. 1, 2023, the restaurant is expected to feature full food and beverage offerings, including breakfast, lunch and dinner, and catered meetings and social events.

Once fully operational, the inn also will offer settings for people to celebrate special events like birthdays, anniversaries, baby or bridal showers, rehearsal dinners and wedding receptions, according to hotel operators.

Additionally, hotel operators said meeting spaces at the inn will be ideal for business conferences, retreats and board meetings.
