The move comes after town meeting voted to opt-in to a state law that puts a cap on speed limits at 25 mph in thickly settled areas and business districts. The select board then voted to implement the measure throughout the town.
"The adjusted speed limit is intended to make Andover streets safer for drivers and pedestrians, and to reduce the risk of serious injury in the event of a motor vehicle accident," according to a town statement.
