ANDOVER, MA — The Andover Police Department asked residents not to leave medical waste in the police station's lobby Monday.

The police have a medical waste discard kiosk, the "sharps kiosk," in their lobby, but it is locked when full. Warnings on the kiosk warn not to leave needles or containers outside of the kiosk.

Improper disposal of medical waste violates state law and can even lead to jail time, the police noted.
