Andover Police Officer Fitzpatrick Graduates From FBI Training Academy

ANDOVER, MA — Andover Police Department Lt. Frank Fitzpatrick graduated from the prestigious FBI National Academy training program in Quantico, Virginia last week, the APD has announced.

Fitzpatrick, a member of the department since 2006, is the sixth APD officer to complete the training program since 2016. Fewer than 1 percent of officers in the U.S. have had an opportunity to attend the program.

The 10-week academy features courses on advanced communication, leadership and fitness training led by FBI Academy instructors, special agents, and other staff.

Participants in the academy have an average of 21 years of law enforcement experience and have been selected due to a proven track record of success and leadership within their agencies. Graduates usually return from the academy to serve in executive-level positions.

The academy's recent graduating class was its 283rd, and it featured 235 officers from 49 states and the District of Columbia, 21 countries, five military organizations and five federal and civilian agencies.

Since joining the APD, Fitzpatrick has served in Patrol and Detectives and has been a member of the Northeast Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (NEMLEC) Regional Response Team.

Currently a support services lieutenant, Fitzpatrick has moved through the ranks, serving as a patrolman, sergeant, patrol supervisor, lieutenant and shift commander.

Fitzpatrick also is the APD's accreditation manager, ensuring the department maintains its high standards and best practice as established by the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission.

"Lieutenant Fitzpatrick is a valued member of the Andover Police Department and the consummate professional," APD Chief of Police Patrick Keefe said. "We are very proud of his accomplishments and look forward to having him use the leadership knowledge and skills that he refined while at the very prestigious FBI National Academy."
