Andover Public School Will Host Dialogues On Race In Wake Of Tragedies
Andover is hosting a youth town hall meeting on race, acceptance and tolerance at Cormier Youth Center on May, 19.
ANDOVER, MA — Andover Public School and Andover's DIVERSE division youth town hall will allow students to discuss difficult conversations about race, acceptance and tolerance.
In a statement, Andover Public School Superintendent Magda Parvey said, "I am deeply saddened by the news of two mass shootings targeting minority communities this past weekend in Buffalo, New York and Laguna Woods, California. Having the opportunity for open dialogue is critical and I do want to offer support to our staff, students, and families who may be affected by these incidents. Our schools’ social workers are available to the Andover Public School community."
The town of Andover's newly formed DIVERSE division—focused on advancing community-driven initiatives and engagement to build a more inclusive Andover— will be holding a Youth Town Hall at Cormier Youth Center on Thursday, May 19 from 6-8 p.m.
