Andover Reopening Continues As Coronavirus Case Count Falls

Just seven Andover residents have active cases of the virus, as of Monday afternoon.

ANDOVER, MA — Andover's businesses and town services are increasingly reopening, as the town's coronavirus caseload has fallen dramatically, Town Manager Andrew Flanagan told the Select Board, Monday night.

Just seven residents have active cases of the virus, versus over 100 at the peak of the outbreak in town. Three hundred residents have tested positive in total, and 48 have died.

Many of the town's recreation facilities have already reopened, including the track, Flanagan said. Pomps Pond is set to open June 29, and Recreation Department summer programming will begin July 6. The basketball courts remain closed but will open during the third phase of the state's reopening.

Local businesses also began to reopen recently, with outdoor dining beginning over the weekend. The town is set to begin blocking off parking spaces for expanded seating this week, and the Select Board granted Flanagan the authority to extend liquor licenses to outdoor seating, Monday.
