Andover Robotics Team To Compete In National Competition
An Andover Robotics Club team will represent the state in a competition next month.
ANDOVER, MA — The Andover Robotics Club's Team Lightning will head to Washington, D.C. to represent Massachusetts in the Governor's Cup Robotics Challenge next month, according to Andover Public Schools.
"At this exhibition and scrimmage style competition, one team from every U.S. state was selected by their Governor to proudly represent their state on the national stage," the district wrote on Facebook.
The two robotics teams, ARC Lightning and ARC Hailstorm, have been on a roll in the last months. They earned the two highest overall scores of the 24 teams competing in December at the Ryken Robobowl at St. John’s High School in Shrewsbury.

Both teams have now advanced to the Massachusetts State Championship which will be held in March.
ARC Lightning also won the prestigious Inspire Award, the district said.

The first-ever Governor's Cup Robotics Challenge will be Feb. 19 to 22 at DAR Constitution Hall in Washington. The contest is an inaugural FIRST Tech Challenge event hosted by the U.S. Department of Education and Experiential, according to its website.
"The United States Governor’s Cup is more than a competition, it’s a celebration of the next generation of STEM leaders, showcasing how the FIRST community inspires students to dream big, think boldly, and shape the future," the website reads.
