Andover Schools Inspecting Roofs, Removing Snow
In response to questions regarding snow on school roofs and possibility of collapse, Andover Schools announced what they are doing to ensure safety.

Andover Public Schools have been receiving a fair amount of phone calls regarding snow on School and Town Building roofs. The school has announced that snow loads on all School and Town Roofs are being closely monitored by the Plant & Facilities Department
In addition to the Bancroft Elementary School, the town has hired roofing contractors, who are removing snow from other Town and School Buildings. This is being done as a precaution to insure we have roof capacity for storms that may arrive after the Saturday Feb. 5 storm.
Additionally all buildings are being inspected internally to address any early signs of stress and our mechanical group is inspecting our roof top equipment to clear snow away from air intakes and exhaust fans. The schools want parents to be aware that we will close any buildings where any unsafe conditions are observed.
