Andover Verizon Shop Geared Up for iPhone 5

The iPhone 5 goes on sale this Friday, Sept. 21, but people around the world, including Andover, are preordering the phone to ensure they get the new device as soon as humanly possible.

According to manager at IM Wireless Verizon in Andover Nate Ledwith, it is with good reason. Ledwith said the iPhone 5 will hit the market with a whole host of new features and functions, such as being able to scan your airplane boarding pass directly from your phone.

Since preordering began this past Friday, Ledwith said Andover residents have been putting in their orders.

"Honestly, it's been nuts," Lediwth said about the activity in Andover. "I've never seen anything like it."

Ledwith, who has been working at the store for 6 years, said the iPhone 4S was the top selling smartphone of all time; until now, he predicts.

"The 5 is probably going to blow it out of the water," said Ledwith.

Ledwith said the iPhone 5 is really the next step in smartphone development and the craze over cell phones that can do almost everything.

But what the iPhone 5 also embodies, Ledwith said, is Apple's continued to effort to make smartphones not just functional but fun. He said no other company brings that "fun" to cell phones like Apple does.

"They [Apple] were the ones that started that," said Ledwith.
