Andover Woman Accused In North Reading Hit-And-Run That Injured Child
The 39-year-old suspect, who has not been publicly identified, was charged with negligent operation of a vehicle and leaving the scene.
NORTH READING, MA — A 39-year-old woman from Andover has been charged in connection with a hit-and-run accident last week in North Reading that injured a 4-year-old child, the North Reading Police Department announced Monday.
The suspect has not been named publicly, but the North Reading PD said she had been summoned to Woburn District Court on charges of negligent operation of a motor vehicle and leaving the scene of an accident involving personal injury.
According to police reports, at 7:40 a.m. on Oct. 19, the North Reading PD responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a hit-and-run accident on Lakeside Boulevard. The accident involved a vehicle striking a young child who was being pulled in a wagon by their parent, police said.

The North Reading PD said it learned that the motorist involved in the crash did not stop at the scene of the accident.
Authorities said the child, age 4, was evaluated at the scene by emergency personnel and treated and released at an area hospital.

Police conducted an investigation and identified the woman they believed was the operator of the vehicle, the North Reading PD said.
The department said that its officers made contact with the alleged suspect, and she turned herself in to authorities without incident.
