Andover's 2022 Alzheimer's Walk Among Year's Top Walks For The Disease
The Oct. 2 walk raised over $551K, ranking it 30th in fundraising among Alzheimer's walks in 2022.
ANDOVER, MA — Last fall's Walk to End Alzheimer's-Northeastern MA in Andover ranked among the top five percent of Alzheimer's walks in 2022 in terms of money raised, the Alzheimer's Association has revealed.
The Oct. 2 Andover walk raised $551,445 for Alzheimer's care, support and research programs, ranking No. 30 on a list of Top 30 Walks. The Andover walk was the second-highest money raising Alzheimer's walk in Massachusetts.
Over 600 Walks to End Alzheimer's took place nationwide last year.

The Andover walk was held at Brickstone Square and drew 3,000 participants, who carried purple flowers honoring those living with Alzheimer's and their caregivers.
"We are so grateful for the community support, as well as our dedicated fundraising teams, sponsors and volunteers who continue to make the Northeastern Massachusetts Walk to End Alzheimer's successful year after year," said Jim Wessler, CEO of the Alzheimer's Association MA/NH Chapter. "This event helps us continue to provide resources and programs for local families affected by Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia, and fund important research to end this devastating disease."

Nationwide, 52,000 teams participated in Alzheimer's walks in 2022, raising more than $90.6 million. The top 3o walks raised more than $26.3 million of that total.
The No. 1 Walk to End Alzheimer's in America took place in San Jose, California, where $1.85 million was raised to combat the disease.
The top Walk to End Alzheimer's in Massachusetts was in Cambridge, where $1.1 million was raised for the cause. The Cambridge walk ranked 7th nationwide in fundraising.
Registration already is open online for the 2023 Walk to End Alzheimer's-Northeastern MA in Andover. The event is scheduled for Oct. 1, and once again will take place at Brickstone Square.
