DA Looks to Public in Double Homicide Case

Two Andover residents were found shot dead in their home one year ago this Friday on Orchard Crossing.

With no updates on the case since the day of the murders, the Essex Country District Attorney and Andover Police Chief are now looking to the public for possibly critical information that could help find those responsible.

“We are asking anyone who has any information no matter how seemingly insignificant to please contact us,” Essex County District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett said.  “Often in a homicide investigation, there are people who have information but may not realize its relevance or importance to the investigation.  At this point, any and all information is important.”

John "Jack" and Geraldine Magee were found dead in their Old Orchard mansion on Dec. 14 by their children. Their Lexus was found burnt on Prince Street in the North End in Boston by Boston Police the night before. Police said they believed the double homicide was an isolated incident.

More information about the murders has not been forthcoming and Blodgett said that will most likely not change.

"Until we have someone in custody and are presenting our case in court, any information released could potentially jeopardize our investigation and our prosecution,” he said.  “This investigation is active and remains a priority.  We will continue to pursue every lead until we find the person or persons responsible for this senseless and tragic murder and seek justice for the Magee family in court.”

Chief Brian Pattullo added the department's commitment to the case in a press release about the request for help.

“The Andover Police Department is determined to find those responsible for this horrific act.  We are asking people to search their consciences and come forward with any information that they may have.”
