Did High School Sex Survey Go Too Far?
School Committee member concerned about questions on UNH survey administered at high school.

Andover, MA - A survey on sexual habits administered by the University of New Hampshire at Andover High School earlier this week has raised the concerns ofsome parents in the community.
At this week's School Committee meeting, committee member Ted Teichert said he had received some phone calls from parents who found the survey fairly unnerving.
"There was a survey done at the high school and it contained sexual education topics and some fairly graphic mentions of stuff," said Teichert.

The survey contained questions about how they would define relationship abuse and sexual assault, how old they were when they first had consensual sex ,and how they think the media portrays relationships.
Andover High Principal Philip Conrad said the survey was done by a UNH professor to research healthy dating relationships for teens and that students were told participation was voluntary.

Conrad noted that the survey was also a follow up to one that was done last year.
Teichert said he would possible like all surveys come before the School Committee in the future for board review before they are administered to students.
"It is an anonymous survey and it does not identify students," said Conrad. "It is not looking for us to do anything with the information. We won't have access to who the students are, it is all done with numericals as identifiers, not as names.
