Two local individuals found their way into seats on the Board of Selectmen and School Committee.

People make news everywhere but only some are lucky enough to make it in Andover. Here are five people who did it this week:
: For the third week in a row, the assistant superintendent of schools in Andover is one of the top five newsmakers in Andover. Nicholson was chosen to be the Waltham Superintendent of Schools on Monday.
: This local resident recently published a book about the loss of the Hartford Whalers, who left Hartford in 1997. The novel was a fictional account about the hockey team that now resides in North Carolina.

This 17-year veteran of the Planning Board was elected into a two-year term on the Board of Selectmen on Tuesday. Salafia talked about making sure that the town yard project becomes something feasible for the town and the taxpayers.
: The incumbent, and School Committee Chairman, was reelected on Tuesday, overcoming challenger Donald Gottfried. Forgue mentioned wanting to reach an agreement with the teacher’s union in regards to their next contract.

This antiques appraiser who regularly appears on Antiques Roadshow came to Andover in March as a part of an Andover Historical Society event. Slavid looked at a variety of antiques owned by residents and provided insight into what lowers and raises an object’s value.
