Five Things to Do This Weekend

Here are five things to do this weekend, despite the Hurricane.

It’s Friday and we’ve got some ideas to help you plan a fun weekend but, at the same time, stay local. The Hurricane is building up towards us but doesn't mean you can't plan fun things for the weekend anyways. While it is planning to touch down in New England on Sunday, that doesn't mean you can't have fun beforehand!

When and Where: Sunday, Aug. 28, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Health Time Fitness, 197 Main St, North Reading

Why Go: Newcomers are welcome to stay for a free 65 minute high energy Zumba class. You might be able to get to this in time before Hurricane Irene finally hits us in Andover.

Where/When: Saturday, Aug. 27, 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Why Go: Stock up on of all your locally produced fruits, vegetables and other food items at the Andover Farmers’ Market at the Andover Historical Society at their house at 97 Main Street. You may need the food over the next few days.

Where/When: Saturday, Aug. 27, various locations in and around Andover

Why Go: Go out and find a deal or two at a number of yard sales in the area. Find our weekend yard sale post at 3 p.m. Again, get all of your shopping in before Sunday!

When: Friday, Aug. 26, 6 p.m., Phillips Academy

Why Go: Stop by the Phillips Academy Andover tennis courts at 6 p.m. tonight and play for free. Any level of skills are welcome.

5. THE BOB WOLFMAN BAND

When and Where: Friday, Aug. 26, 9 p.m., Palmers, Elm Street.

Why Go: Come stop by Palmers and check out the sounds of the the Bob Wolfman Band. Find out more about them on their website. This is something else you can do before the Hurricane hits!
