An NHL milestone and gas prices are among the five things you need to know today.

Here are five things you need to know today:
The Day When Hockey Stopped: It was this day in 2005 when the NHL announced that it would be canceling the 2004 to 2005 season becaue of a labor disagreement. This was the first sport in North America to lose a whole season because of a labor disagreement. This fun fact was provided by On-This-Day.com.
Gas Prices: If you do choose to get gas at the Main Street Mobil, make sure you know that an 8-gallon or more purchase gives you a $13.95 oil change; that’s only a couple dollars more than the cost of materials. Here are some of the lowest and most current unleaded gas prices in Andover according to autos.msn.com: – $3.12/gallon. 205 North Main Street – $3.15/gallon. A west wind should come through at 3 and 9 miles per hour, according to the National Weather Service. Tonight will be cloudy with a low temperature at 27 degrees.

Parking Ban Persists: It may be nice out today but don't let that fool you. The winter parking ban is still in effect and street parking is strictly prohibited. Parking tickets will be given out with day to day police enforcement. However, if your vehicle is impeding the town’s snow removal operations you’ll get a ticket and towed. Get the latest on parking bans on the Andover PD website.
