Here are five things you need to know today Tuesday, March 8:
Canine Counting: As dog license renewals just finished up in Andover, this seems to be an appropriate landmark. It was this day in 1894 the state of New York enacted a dog license law, being the first animal control law in the country. This fun fact was provided by On-This-Day.com. For those that haven't yet renewed their dog's license for 2011, the $14 fee will now carry a $5 surcharge.
Weather: The weather this week is starting to look up and hopefully today will be the start. It should be sunny with a high temperature around 41 degrees. A north wind should come through at 6 miles per hour, according to the National Weather Service. Tuesday night will be clear with a low at 22 degrees.
