Former Andover High Star QB E.J. Perry Signs With Houston Texans
Perry, who played collegiately at Brown, was on the Jaguars' practice squad last season. He was released by Jacksonville earlier this week.

HOUSTON, TX — Former Andover High School and Brown University standout quarterback E.J. Perry has changed NFL addresses.
The Houston Texans claimed Perry off waivers on Wednesday, one day after the Jacksonville Jaguars released the signal-caller.
The 25-year-old Perry spent the 2022 season, his first out of college, on the Jaguars' practice squad. The 6-foot-2, 210-pounder saw action in two games during the 2022 preseason, including completing 19 of 37 passes for 201 yards and throwing a touchdown and two interceptions in an August 27 exhibition game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Jacksonville had signed Perry to a reserve/future deal on Jan 23 of this year. However, he was let go this week when the Jags needed a roster spot for wide receiver Calvin Ridley, who was reinstated by the NFL on Monday following a year-long suspension for gambling.
Houston, which went 3–13–1 last season, currently has three quarterbacks on the roster: Davis Mills, Kyle Allen and Jeff Driskell, who all started games last season.

The Texans own the second pick in the April 27 NFL Draft and are expected to take a quarterback with that selection.
"Perry will bring youth and athletic upside to a Texans team whose backup role may be up for grabs," wrote Milo Taibi on Athlon Sports. "Should the team select a quarterback with their second overall pick in the upcoming draft, Perry would compete with Davis Mills and veteran reserves Jeff Driskel and Kyle Allen for an opening day roster spot."
Perry, a four-year starter at Andover High School, began his collegiate career at Boston College before transferring to Brown. He won the 2021 Bushnell Cup, which is given to the Ivy League's top offensive player.
Perry then was named the Offensive MVP of the 2022 Shrine Bowl college all-star game and he ran an impressive 4.65 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine.
Last May, Perry signed with Jacksonville as an undrafted free agent. The Jaguars then released Perry on the first day of training camp due to a non-football injury. However, he returned to the Jaguars on Aug. 9.
