Free Tix Offered For Andover High, Phillips Academy Quiz Show Tapings

BOSTON, MA — Andover High School and Phillips Academy both will be competing on the television show "High School Quiz Show" later this month, and GBH has announced details about joining the studio audience.

The "High School Quiz Show" episodes will be taped at GBH's Brighton studios, located at One Guest Street.

At 10:30 a.m. on Jan. 21, Andover High School will face South High. Tickets are free and available online.

Meanwhile, at 3 p.m. on Jan. 22, Phillips Academy faces Acton-Boxborough. Those tickets also are free and available online.

The episode featuring Andover is due to air at 6 p.m. on Feb. 11, and the episode featuring Phillips Academy will air at 6 p.m. on March 25, both on GBH 2 and the High School Quiz Show YouTube channel.

Andover High and Phillips Academy both have advanced to the competition's 16-team knockout bracket.

The Andover/South winner will move on to face either Mansfield or the winner of the wild-card matchup between Carlisle High School and Melrose High School. The next round will take place at a later date.

The winner of the Phillips Academy/Acton-Boxborough tussle is due to face the Buckingham Browne & Nichols School/Shrewsbury High School winner.

Andover High is participating in "High School Quiz Show" for the seventh time. The school captured the Season 9 championship. Phillips Academy will be making its second appearance on the show.

This is the 14th season of "High School Quiz Show," which features four-person teams from around Massachusetts.

This year will mark the first time since before the pandemic that the show will be taped in person. Emmy award-winning television and radio personality Billy Costa will serve as host.

"'High School Quiz Show' remains a cherished showcase for the academic rigor, integrity and perseverance embodied by high school students from all corners of the state," said Hillary Wells, GBH executive producer.

Wells continued: "We look forward to welcoming fans, families, friends and community members back to our audience as we challenge the Season 14 cohort to show off their smarts."
