GoFundMe Raises Over $18,000 For Injured Lawrence Firefighter

LAWERENCE, MA — Over $18,000 has been raised for Lawrence firefighter Miguel Baez and his family following a recent accident.

Baez "suffered a very serious accident causing severe injuries throughout his entire body" on Friday, Aug. 6, according to the GoFundMe. No other details on the accident are available.

"He has always been a person who puts others first, which is why he became a firefighter, risking his life for the sake of others," fundraiser organizer Angela Fajardo wrote.

As of Thursday afternoon, $18,627 has been raised toward the fundraiser's $30,000 goal for Baez and his family.

"He has managed to win his first battle but a long, painful road awaits him, with many expenses along the way," Fajardo wrote. "God willingly, his recovery will be slow and involving multiple surgeries which will affect not only him but his family as well. We turn to your generosity and your kind heart to help our brother Miguel with whatever you can and feel you are called to do so."
