LETTER: Re-elect Finegold for State Senate

An Andover resident is supporting Sen. Barry Fingeold for re-election this November, saying that he and his office doesn't treat you like a number.

After nearly two years of searching for a job, this summer I finally found and accepted a position contingent upon the completion of a successful background check.  Several weeks passed and the background check stalled.  The outstanding piece causing the delay was the results of my Massachusetts CORI report.  As a last ditch effort, I contacted State Senator Barry Finegold’s office to see if there was anything that his office could do to further expedite the process.  I was pleasantly surprised by the responsiveness of his staff.  My phone call was immediately returned and in a matter of a few hours and a few email exchanges, the results of my CORI search were located.

It is very easy to think as a voter that you’re just a number or that your vote doesn’t count.  Even after earning a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, I, too, had grown weary and jaded about the process.  Senator Finegold’s office, however, reminded me that even though our local senators and representatives may seem very far removed from their constituents, they do care and are working hard each day to better the lives of the citizens they represent.  Senator Finegold realized that each additional day that my background check was delayed was another day that I had to struggle to make ends meet, and did everything in his power to get me back to work.  This year, on November 6th, Senator Finegold will receive my vote.  I sincerely hope that you would strongly consider giving him yours as well.
