Lyons Calls for Closer Review of State Spending

Last week, We received a copy of your Administration's Hl budget proposal calling for a $2 billion tax

increase on working families and taxpayers.

 

We would ask that prior to April lst, 2013, you would direct the Secretary of Administration and Finance

to provide us with the following information:

 

1.) The total amount of the state budget that is being used to fund individual, family, and other benefits;

 

2.) The total amount of the state budget that is being used to fund individual, family, and other benefits

or expenditures on behalf of citizens of the United States who are residents of the Commonwealth of

Massachusetts;

 

3.) The total amount of the state budget that is being used to fund individual, family, and other benefits

or expenditures on behalf of persons holding Green Cards who are residents of the Commonwealth of

Massachusetts;

 

4.) The total amount of the state budget that is being used to fund individual, family, and other benefits

or expenditures on behalf of citizens ofthe United States Whose residence in the Commonwealth of

Massachusetts is not verified;

 

5.) The total amount of the state budget that is being used to fund individual, family, and other

benefits and expenditures on behalf of all other persons.

 

6.) Ali information required by the attached amendment to House Bill 3735 which was passed bythe

House of Representatives in October of 2011.

 

We anticipate that this Vital data will help us determine the advisability of raising taxes on working

families in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
