Mesmic Awarded State Grant for Training

The grants were given statewide to help improve the state's jobs numbers.

Gov. Deval Patrick announced $2.8 million in grants for workforce training, and an Andover company is one of the recipients.

MEMSIC, an Andover sensory device developer, will receive $23,040 to train 14 employees and create three new jobs.

"By investing in workforce training, we are increasing opportunity and skills for workers while also making Massachusetts companies more competitive and sustainable," Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development Secretary Joanne F. Goldstein said. “The Workforce Training Fund is an effective resource within the business community as we continue to encourage growth and development across all regions and economic sectors in Massachusetts."

Memsic made headlines last month when it was privatized with a merger by its new Chinese owners.
