ANDOVER, MA— When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. Together with Ring, we’re working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories.
This submission comes from Shawna McCloskey who nominated Andover's Meals on Wheels volunteers. McCloskey supervises the town's Meals on Wheels program.

State: MA
Home town: Andover
Hero's job: Volunteer
Relationship to nominee: I supervise the Meals on Wheels program at the Town of Andover Senior Center
Reason for recognition: Since early March when the pandemic scared everyone into quarantines & isolation, this group of volunteers risked their lives to deliver meals to our most vulnerable, neediest elders. They never missed a day. Selfless stalwarts of the community. Exemplary.
One thing to know: They recognized that in spite of the pandemic and the risks, that the program had to continue; elders needed their meals and the volunteers never complained. They risked their own health to help others.
Thank you for all you do, volunteers!
